Gloam Camera
Gloam Camera Privacy Policy
Scope: Gloam Camera for iOS
1. Introduction
Welcome to Gloam Camera (the “App”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle and protect information when providing capture, photo and video processing, an on-device album, membership purchases, and optional usage analytics.
The first time you use the App, we ask you to review and decide whether to accept the Gloam Camera Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy. You must accept the basic terms before entering the App.
Usage analytics have a separate “Allow” or “Don’t Allow” choice. Analytics are not required for the App’s core features. Choosing “Don’t Allow” does not affect capture, editing, the in-app album, purchases, or purchase restoration.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Photos, Videos, and Capture Data
When you capture, record, edit, or save content, the App may process the following on your device:
- captured photos and videos;
- audio recorded with a video;
- JPEG, RAW/DNG, video files, and thumbnails;
- capture time, camera parameters, selected camera effect, color profile, and editing parameters;
- front or rear camera, mirroring, aspect ratio, border, date imprint, and related capture or editing states;
- latitude, longitude, location accuracy, and timestamp when you actively enable location recording; and
- local asset identifiers used to associate in-app content with system photo-library assets.
This content is created and processed on the device and, depending on the feature and your settings, is stored in the App sandbox or the system photo library.
The App does not upload your photos, videos, RAW files, recorded video audio, photo EXIF, file names, or file paths to our servers or include them in Umeng analytics events.
If you actively use the system share sheet, iOS and the third-party app you choose process the selected content. That third party’s privacy policy applies to its processing.
2.2 App Settings and Local State
To preserve preferences and restore App state, the App stores certain settings locally, including:
- whether to export to the system photo library;
- whether to retain the original photo;
- whether to retain photo location;
- camera, color-profile, zoom, and framing-assistance settings;
- a local membership-entitlement cache;
- the accepted policy version; and
- your “Allow” or “Don’t Allow” choice for optional analytics.
These values remain in the App sandbox or system-provided local preference storage. They restore state and provide the requested features and are not uploaded as custom analytics events.
2.3 Optional Usage Analytics
The App enables Umeng analytics only after you expressly choose “Allow.” Choosing “Don’t Allow” does not affect core features.
When enabled, Umeng may process device and system information, App operation and network information, device-level identifiers, feature usage, and necessary crash or runtime diagnostics. The custom usage information the App actively reports is limited to whether a capture was completed and the camera and color profile used for that capture.
We do not use analytics to upload photos, videos, audio, precise location, transaction information, or contact information. Analytics are used only to understand feature usage and improve features and stability—not for advertising, marketing profiles, or cross-app tracking.
2.4 Membership Purchases and Restoration
The App offers the Gloam Pro Annual plan and Gloam Pro Lifetime through Apple StoreKit.
When you purchase or restore a purchase, Apple may process your Apple Account, payment method, purchase history, and transaction information.
Through StoreKit, the App receives product information, purchase results, and verified entitlement state, such as:
- the active product;
- subscription expiration;
- refund or revocation state; and
- the purchase-restoration result.
We use this information only to decide whether to unlock the corresponding Gloam Pro features.
The App does not receive your payment card number or other complete payment details, and it does not send purchase history, order numbers, or transaction identifiers to Umeng analytics.
Apple’s Privacy Policy and applicable service terms govern Apple’s processing of purchase and payment information.
2.5 Information You Provide When Contacting Us
If you email us, we process your email address, message, and information you voluntarily provide so that we can answer questions, troubleshoot issues, or respond to a rights request.
Do not email unrelated identity documents, payment card information, passwords, or other sensitive information.
3. Device Permissions
The App requests a system permission only when you use the related feature. You may deny access or later change or withdraw it in iOS Settings.
3.1 Camera
Purpose: live preview, photo capture, and video recording.
If denied: capture and recording are unavailable, but you may still view content already stored in the App.
3.2 Microphone
Purpose: record sound with video.
If denied: video may have no sound or the related recording feature may not work normally. Photo capture and editing are unaffected.
3.3 Photos
Photos access is used to:
- save processed photos, videos, or originals you choose to retain to the system photo library;
- create or manage a custom “Gloam Camera” album when full read/write access is granted;
- locate photo assets saved and associated by the App; and
- synchronize editing results back to the associated system photo asset.
Photos permission does not enable arbitrary photo importing or browsing. The App does not scan or upload unrelated photos.
With Limited Access, the App may still save new content, but it may be unable to create, locate, or manage the custom “Gloam Camera” album. New content then goes to the main system photo library.
If Photos access is denied, captures can still first be saved in the App’s local album but cannot be exported or synchronized to the system photo library.
3.4 Location
Purpose: record the capture location after you actively enable “Keep Location.”
“Keep Location” is off by default. The App requests While Using the App location access only after you enable this feature.
Location may include latitude, longitude, accuracy, and timestamp. It is stored in in-app photo metadata and may also be written to the corresponding system photo asset when exported.
The App does not send precise latitude or longitude obtained from system location services to Umeng analytics.
Denying or disabling location does not affect photos, video, filters, or editing. New captures simply omit location.
3.5 Motion and Device Attitude
Purpose: camera level, device-orientation detection, and photo-orientation correction.
This data is used only for immediate on-device calculation. It is not used to identify you or uploaded as a custom analytics event.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Umeng Analytics
After you allow analytics, the App uses:
- Provider: Umeng Tongxin (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. (“Umeng+”);
- UMCommon, currently version 7.5.5;
- UMDevice, currently version 3.4.0; and
- Purpose: usage analytics, stability diagnostics, and feature improvement.
Depending on SDK functionality, Umeng may process device information, device-level identifiers, advertising-identifier status, App information, network information, session information, basic crash or runtime diagnostics, and usage events sent by the App. This data is transmitted to Umeng servers.
Actual storage location, security measures, retention, and deletion follow the service configuration, applicable law, and Umeng’s Privacy Policy.
Umeng Privacy Policy:
4.2 Apple System Services
The App uses camera, microphone, Photos, location, StoreKit, system sharing, and other capabilities provided by Apple. Apple may process necessary information under the rules for those services.
Apple Privacy Policy:
5. Tracking, ATT, and Advertising Identifiers
The App contains no advertising, performs no third-party ad attribution, does not combine your data with data from other companies’ apps, websites, or offline sources for advertising or ad measurement, and does not sell or provide data to data brokers.
Our own App code does not integrate AppTrackingTransparency, request ATT tracking permission, or actively read IDFA.
The integrated UMDevice component contains a code path that can access advertising-identifier status and may attempt to read that status where the system permits. Because the App does not request ATT permission, the SDK cannot obtain a valid IDFA for tracking on supported iOS versions. The App does not use an advertising identifier for ads, attribution, or cross-app tracking.
Analytics may use IDFV or a device-level identifier generated by the Umeng SDK, solely for usage analysis and stability diagnostics—not cross-app or cross-company tracking. If the App later performs Tracking as defined by Apple, we will update this Policy and request ATT permission before processing.
6. Sharing, Transfer, and Public Disclosure
We do not provide your information to other third parties except when:
- you expressly allow analytics data to be processed by Umeng;
- Apple processes information under the rules for Photos, StoreKit, or another Apple service you use;
- you actively use the system share sheet and choose a third-party app;
- applicable law or a lawful judicial or administrative request requires necessary information; or
- necessary processing is permitted by law to protect you, other users, or the public and their property.
If the operator changes through a merger, reorganization, or asset transfer, we will provide legally required notice and require the new processor to continue protecting the information.
We do not sell personal information.
7. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
7.1 Local App Content
In-app photos, videos, RAW files, thumbnails, and metadata remain in the App sandbox until you delete them in the App, delete the App from the device, or iOS handles them under device storage and backup rules.
Deleting the App generally removes its sandbox, but does not delete photos or videos already exported to the system photo library.
Delete exported content separately in Photos. Apple controls Recently Deleted, backup, and synchronization rules.
7.2 Settings and Consent State
App settings, accepted policy version, and analytics choice remain locally until you delete App data, delete the App, or we update the Policy and ask you to choose again.
7.3 Umeng Analytics Data
Analytics already submitted with your permission are retained by Umeng under its service configuration, processing purposes, applicable law, and Privacy Policy.
Stopping use or deleting the App prevents new submissions but does not automatically delete data already sent to Umeng.
You may email us to request access to or deletion of submitted data.
Because the App has no account system, we may be unable to locate device-level analytics from a name or email alone. We will assist where verification is possible and technically feasible and explain when a record cannot be located.
7.4 StoreKit Data
Apple primarily retains purchase and payment records under its service rules and legal obligations. The App keeps only necessary entitlement state within the device and information made available by StoreKit.
Use Apple’s account and subscription tools for Apple Account, purchase-history, and subscription management.
7.5 Support Email
We retain emails and related information for a reasonable period needed to handle a question, dispute, or rights request. When that purpose is complete, we delete or stop using the information as appropriate unless law requires retention.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- change Camera, Microphone, Photos, and Location access in iOS Settings;
- turn off export, original-photo retention, or location retention in App settings;
- delete local captures in the App;
- delete exported photos or videos in Photos;
- choose “Don’t Allow” for analytics on first use and continue using core features; and
- email us with questions or rights requests about information processing.
The current version does not provide an analytics-consent switch in Settings.
If you previously chose “Allow” and want to stop future analytics, delete and reinstall the App, then choose “Don’t Allow” when the analytics choice appears again.
Using iOS “Offload App” may preserve App data and your prior choice; use “Delete App.”
After deletion, the App cannot collect or send new analytics. After reinstalling and choosing “Don’t Allow,” Umeng analytics will not initialize and custom events will not be sent.
Email cannot remotely change consent stored on your device. Use the deletion and reinstallation process above to stop future analytics.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing lawfully performed before withdrawal.
9. Information Security
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the current product, including:
- iOS sandboxing and system permissions;
- processing only what features require;
- blocking Umeng initialization and custom events until you allow analytics;
- restricting analytics fields so events exclude photos, file paths, precise location, and transaction identifiers;
- using safeguards supplied by Apple and third-party services; and
- restricting internal diagnostics and sensitive logs in the production App Store build.
No internet transmission or electronic storage is absolutely secure. If a security incident legally requires notice, we will take the steps required by applicable law.
10. Children
The App is not directed specifically to children under 14.
If you are under 14, review this Policy with a parent or guardian and obtain their consent before using a feature that processes personal information.
A guardian who believes a child provided personal information without consent may email us. After verification, we will take the steps required by law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy for feature changes, third-party service changes, law, or regulatory requirements.
If an update materially affects your rights, we will notify you through an in-app notice, a renewed policy presentation, or another reasonable method.
We will obtain new consent when required by law, including for a new processing purpose or an expanded data category.
The date shown at the top is the effective date of the current version.
